Perhaps this is the inspiration I’ve been searching for

20 Jun

If there is any one album that makes me want to write poetry, stare at the wall, and cry, it’s Damien Rice’s “O.”  It’s so sad, so poetic, and so true.

I can’t decide which is my favorite song, mostly because I love them all.

“Cannonball” has a certain honesty that I find rare and appealing, mostly because it says things like, “love taught me to lie,” “stones taught me fly,” and ” you step a little closer each day, so close I can’t see what’s going on.”

But then there’s “Older Chests,” a song that contains such lyrics as, “we all seem to need the help of someone else to mend that shelf of too many books,” and “some things in life may change and some things they stay the same, like time.”  It’s simple, but it’s beautiful.
