Since I’ve got nothing really significant to report, just a few random tidbits, I’m giving you a list. A list of seven things (because seven is my lucky number) I feel compelled to share with you right now.
- I am a control freak. Not being in charge anymore, and having given all my keys to KFOR 9, is driving me crazy. What’s worse, is that I managed to get really good at my job and not doing it anymore, and watching people do it differently, just freaks me out. Like I said, I’m a control freak.
- I have decided that people who rip up paper before they shred it are ridiculous. What’s the point?! It’s going to get ripped into tiny little pieces by a machine. LET THE MACHINE DO IT’S JOB!
- It snowed Saturday night. It wasn’t a lot, and it only stuck to the roofs of buildings but it was pretty. And cold. And wet. And it’s also possible that I complained about it, but in retrospect, it was really quite lovely.
- That said, snow is the enemy right now because I don’t want to see it again until I’m back home in Virginia. It is not allowed to snow in Kosovo anymore until I leave. See, snow can delay flights. And I don’t even want to think about what delayed flights means for me, or any of the other KFOR 8 Soldiers for that matter.
- I’m having a really hard time letting go of my office. I’m very attached to it and I want very much to see it excel under KFOR 9. But letting go of the job I’ve loved (and sometimes hated) is really, really hard.
- I cried at work today when a very important someone gave me (and a few others) a very, very nice gift for all of our hard work. I started thinking about saying goodbye to these people and I realized that these people here in Kosovo are my family. I love them all and I’m going to miss them so, so much.
- I’m going to continue writing on this blog after I get home. Obviously I won’t be writing about being deployed, but I’ll still write about my life and my adventures. I’m pretty sure adjusting to civilian life is going to be interesting, especially when you consider that I’m still missing my weapon after four days of not having it.

Trust me I’m doing the no snow dance…I’ve been religiously checking kosovo weather online..so far so good for this week..no snow..rain and clouds but no snow…

I am SO GLAD that you will continue blogging! I so enjoy my visits here. I loved reading about your rifle, especially since I’ve been wanting to take some trips to the shooting range a learn how to weild (sp? Is it even a word?) a weapon…. (((((HUGS))))) sandi
Terra, like I said before, I have been following your post (Since it seems you are the only one who writes about deployment in Kosovo)But I am very excited that it is finally over. My wife will be home for good on Thursday and I can’t wait, not to mention our kids. I want to personally thank you and all the other soldiers out there for being the ones brave enough and strong enough to stand up for this country. So give yourself a hug because you guys do a wonderful job. Good luck when you return back to the states.
First off, let me just say that Bobby, your word made me cry. Thank you so much for your support and congratulations on finally getting your wife back. Those of us deployed to places like Kosovo are oftentimes forgotten, especially with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, so thank all, so much, for your support – it makes a bigger difference than you could ever know.
Second, ArmyWife, I’m over here doing the no snow dance as well! Hopefully between the two of us we can ward off any and all flight delaying weather!
And Sandi, I would totally go with you if you went to the range. I’ve actually never fired a weapon outside of the military and would LOVE to 🙂
