Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s take naps

14 Aug

When we moved into our house back in late January, the husband and I knew we wanted to do a few major things to living room. Like put in a great big built in cabinent to house our TV and electonic devices. And put in at outlet. And move the light swich. And buy a bunch of stuff that would make it look like adults live here and not college sophomores living in an apartment for the first time. The built-in was completed back in July. The outlet was installed today. The stuff was bought over the past six months.  And now, FINALLY, our living room is ready for it’s grand reveal and, even better than that, it’s actually a space we’ll use – AND, I don’t have to step over a cable to get from the living to the dining room anymore! Wha-bam!

Here’s what it looked like back in the before times:

Yes, that is a brick fireplace painted the color of brick to look more like a brick fireplace.  It might not look too bad in the picture, but trust me. It was. We almost didn’t buy the house because of our hatred for that fireplace. As it turns out, things painted the color of brick appear larger than they really are.

In order to rid ourselves of this BORING living room, we painted the walls yellow.  Turned our Ikea chase into a couch by buying the second half of it. Swept up dog hair. Bought bookcases. Had the built-in installed. Cursed about the dog hair all over the place. Picked out a painting that was sufficiently mean for our living room. Found the perfect rug on sale. Swept up dog hair. Bought curtains, a chair & a few accessories and, of course, had the outlet installed today.

Here’s what it looks like now:

P.S.: I might cry if you say no, so even if you don’t like because it’s YELLOW, lie. I won’t mind.

I LOVE what you did to your living room (and this is not a lie, FYI). The yellow wall color looks awesome, it makes the whole room bright and cheery! Great job!

Oh it looks so nice! I haven’t seen it since we painted the brown. The TV cabinet looks great. When’s the housewarming party?

YOU LIED TO ME! You tried to convince me that you are a messy too, and THAT’S NOT TRUE! LOL! I think it’s BEAUTIFUL! I’ve been wanting to do a little yellow, too, but my darling is NOT a fan. You should see Hazel’s (not yet finished) “Crazy Pink” room~the color is from Wally. It’s WILD and FABULOUS!!!! ~smile~ Best of all, I can tell she LOVES IT from her delighted squeals…. Sandi I AM messy – just not when the camera is out 🙂 Plus, those cabinets by the fireplace are filled with all my junk, so really it’s just an illusion!
