#67: 1 Month of Exercise

#67: Exercise at least four times a week for one month.
[see the rest of the list]

I’ve always been thin (please don’t throw things at me). I spent most of my high school years weighing about 115 pounds. I’m 5’6″ and it’s safe to say that weighing 115 pounds at my height made me TINY. After high school, I joined the Army National Guard and got shipped off to Basic Training where my previously very small ass was whipped into shape. I had never been in shape before the Army got a hold of me. I was just thin. I didn’t need to try to be thin, it just happened (no really, please don’t hate me).

Well, a funny thing happened to me in Basic. I gained 20 pounds. In 3 months. My initial weigh-in when I got to Basic in January was 116 pounds. By the time I got to Fort Meade to start my Army job training, I was weighed in at 136 pounds. I knew that I had gained some weight, most of it muscle, but I was not expecting to step on the scale and find myself to be 20 pounds heavier. It was a shock to say the least.

My point in this, is that working out is difficult for me because I gain weight. Since Basic three years ago I’ve let myself get out of shape a little bit, and, consequently, I currently weigh about 120 pounds. But this is get-my-ass-in-shape month. This is part of my 101 in 1001 challenge. So, for your viewing pleasure, I’m going to record the pain I put myself through in yet another attempt to get in shape, mostly because reporting about things on my 101 in 1001 list is one of my favorite things.

Week 5

SUN 26.AUG.07: 3.5 mile run around Bondsteel.

MON 27.AUG.07: Upper body day in which Andrew attempts to kill me by forcing me to do as many push-ups as possible in 2 minutes, three sets of pull-ups (weight assisted), three sets of dips (again, weight assisted), and some other stupid thing that hurt.  I’m thankful, really.

TUE 28.AUG.07: 30 minute treadmill run, with a hill added.  A big, long hill.

WED 29.AUG.07: A much needed day of rest.

THU 30.AUG.07: Abs and arms.  Mostly push-ups, sit-ups and a strange ab exercise that hurts

FRI 31.AUG.07: Nothing.  Mission Complete.

Sounds like a sweet work out program. I bet your abs are looking quite awesome. I sure would like to see them in a leather jacket, and black bra.

I did, in fact, play basketball, although it was more me picking up the ball and running away from Andrew with it. It’s easy cardio. You and I both know I don’t know how to play real basketball.

Remember muscle wears more than fat. Are you sure all that weight gain was excessive pounds or some actual muscle gain? Keep track of your thigh, waist hip, ratio with a tape measure and see what happens. Screw the # on the scale it may mean nothing….Di
